DO CHRISTIANS TAKE PART IN RITUALS?

DATE: Sunday 19 March 2017

MESSAGE TITLE: Rituals / Mhinzamumba

SPEAKER: Bishop Emmanuel Bawa

MAIN SCRIPTURE:  Colossians 2: 8-10, 20-22

POINTS

We are destroyed because of lack of knowledge

Hosea 4: 6 my people are destroyed from the lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priest; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

As much as we increase worldly knowledge there is a serious need to increase our spiritual knowledge.

In trying to understand the spiritual we than create rituals that put us into bondage.

For example:

  • Who am I and how do I relate to the spiritual world?
  • How does the spiritual world relate to me?
  • What goes on in the spiritual world?

Rituals is worshipping to an unknown god.

Acts 17: 23 For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an alter with this inscription: TO UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim.

People do things they do not know and it has spiritual implications.

  • Which will bind them for the rest of their life.
  • Do not go to rituals places that you do not understand.
  • Do not do rituals that you do not understand.

Myths About Rituals

  1. It is not true that if you do not do the rituals your life is in danger, your family is in danger.
  2. It is not true that the dead look after those who are alive. Nor see those who are alive.
  3. It is not true that when someone die his spirit becomes very powerful to look after those who are alive.
  • The truth is every spirit will go to a holding place, for Christians Paradise; for non-believers a place of torment (Hades) waiting for the judgment which is coming.
  1. It is not true that when you die (Reincarnation) you will come back and be born into another family. If you were poor, this time you'll be born into a rich family.

How Do Rituals Affect Us

  1. They instill Fear in us. Fear of the dead, fear of the unknown
  2. Rituals are made from superstition, which means believing in mysterious things (you do not see anything good, you see evil and you speak evil).
  • Crawling creatures /animal or people bring bad luck in our lives.
  • You become supersensitive to witchcraft.
  • You believe signs, days, colors and so on carry bad luck.
  1. Rituals enslave us or imprison us.
  2. We are made to worship and appease demonic spirits without knowing.

Conclusion

John 8: 36    If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (KJV)

Today is the day of freedom from the grip of rituals.
